Musical #GoodNewsFriday : Some of our team saw the talented 'The Unknowns' at Union Chapel London
The band formed in an asylum hotel during @hearmeoutmusic workshops: their music speaks of home, family & hopes. Amazing to see a previous R@H guest in a band!
We are seeking an independent Chair for the Asylum Reform Initiative - to drive Together With Refugees 🧡 forward and create a more welcoming Britain for refugees.
🗓️ Apply by 14 May

Prepping for our 6pm talk about Hosting people fleeing war and persecution. In the beautiful Caygill rooms thanks to The Piece Hall with Refugees at Home🧡 and Bradford Nightstop. Interested? Join us. 🧡
We at West London Welcome, along with Refugees at Home🧡 and London Councils, advised Refugee Council 🧡 while they wrote this important new report with our experiences managing the crisis in refugee homelessness on-the-ground.

Glad we could contribute to this: so many of our guests come to us after eviction from Home Office accommodation when they get refugee status. It should be a time of celebration but it’s one of destitution & anxiety.
What with one guest off to celebrate with the Yemeni community in Harrow and the other (who guessed the timings wrong & took yesterday off !) going to the local mosque before taking sweeties to work, it’s all go at #EidAlFitr round here.
Only 2 days until the host recruitment evening!

4 men from the #BibbyStockholm gave their skills and time to The Portland Museum. A carpenter fixed the roof on the garden seat and stabilised it. Others did general musrum cleaning, inc the windows, in preparation for the museum's spring/summer opening.
Thank you. 😊
“Two to three weeks is a lifeline for sanctuary seekers.” says City of Sanctuary UK 🧡 in #Sheffield in this The Star, Sheffield article about homelessness in the city. Can you help by hosting there? thestar.co.uk/news/politics/…
Refugees at Home🧡 Gary Lineker So far, I've experienced Somali, Eritrean and Ethiopian meals, usually done as joint ventures. (Though watch the spices.)
Belarusian cooking may well be next on the agenda. Great fun.
Lovely to hear how our guest Rasheed, from Baluchistan, practically blew his host Gary Lineker’s head off with his quite spicy curry….
Thanks Gary Lineker for mentioning hosting with us and cooking together: it’s such a vital part of daily life joining hosts and guests - however long they are in the same home.
