The most beautiful part of #TRLConf2022? Connecting with literacy leaders from across the country. What a gift they are! Missing some of our chapter colleagues tonight - you are with us in spirit. The Reading League #MakingRipples

A must listen. Launched today Emily Hanford new podcast "an exposé of how educators came to believe in something that isn't true and are now reckoning with the consequences — children harmed, money wasted, an education system upended". features.apmreports.org/sold-a-story/

🧵 51/ Sold a Story, Episode 3 summary This is exactly what Reid Lyon was worried about. People who had a stake in the cueing theory had something to do w/ Reading First falling apart. Susan Neuman said “RR wrote us really nasty notes that we were saying bad things about them.”

We’re listening today- are you?! This episode dives into the politics, ignorance and money behind how programs like F&P became the leading approach to teaching reading, despite research that proves otherwise.

We love the new UF Literacy Institute Foundations! They have so many of their resources generously posted for free, but don't sleep on their new Foundational Phonics Curriculum! #sor

Reading aloud doesn't teach kids to love reading. It teaches them to love books, stories, learning things, the intimacy of being read to...all that is wonderful, but it's not a love of *reading*. If you want children to love reading, you have to teach them how to do it well.
