Disabled folks are twice as likely to be displaced during climate emergencies, and that often leads to them being institutionalized. In a country that funds institutions instead of care, this is just another way to hide us away. The Ugly Laws, eugenics, ableism. Rinse, repeat.

Trying to explain to my therapist the triggers and trauma associated with dating with a visible disability. If we still have issues toward people with disabilities in the workplace, schools, etc. It's not far-fetched to believe that the same stigma is also experienced in dating.

Many of us are recovering from inaccessible systems of learning where the presence of difference and disability is punished and stigmatized. We are now becoming more comfortable with calling ourselves capable learners instead of remedial students.

is it just me but I didn't see a lot of mobility or awareness of Domestic/ IPV month for women with disabilities. Is this a taboo in the disability community?

It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either. So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today: – Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them.

You know I was doing good the first half of the day...staying busy but now I feel anxiety rising and I had to put some worship music on. And before you write "Jesus is Lord" I know this. That doesn't diminish the anxiety the day has produced and our emotional response to it

R.Dopson, MPH (@rasheeradiara) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The anxiety is giving me fuel to edit my research proposal. If this day hasn’t produced anything else it’s given me energy to work on things that will benefit progress and empower disabled women in the future.

Most can love Disabled people being their patients most are uncomfortable having Disabled people as their peers. When there is no longer a line that separates us from them. Our lived experiences and professional expertise expose the deeper and hidden of ableism.

Disability-lived experience is rigor. It’s resilience. It’s brilliance. Let’s put more respect on those who show up in academic and professional spaces while Disabled or chronically ill. It’s hard—and we do it anyway. 💪

R.Dopson, MPH (@rasheeradiara) 's Twitter Profile Photo

We have to include options for Disabled professionals. There is a group of us where our lived experiences can go across the aisle. Asking us to choose one is indirectly erasing the duality of our expertise.

Any of my colleagues on here attend the SXSW conference. Curious on what content they offer- any Disability presence and innovation. Thoughts feedback etc?

We know now that what they're coming after is not one form of thinking. It's not Black history, it's not intersectionality, it's not critical race theory. They're coming after the entire infrastructure that has been created from the civil rights movement.
