The BSR set up has been far from perfect, and I've written some lengthy pieces about where it has gone wrong. A high volume of less serious work combined with under-resourcing has crashed the system. People saw this coming, warned about it and were ignored

But we have 10,000 (+?) blocks of flats with life safety issues - and a long legacy of unsafe, non-compliant new builds. And even if the BSR regime still needs to be tweaked and worked out, the processes which produced that mass, industry-wide failure needed to be overturned
