Jamaica will ask the UK for reparations for slavery under the British Empire. An estimated 600,000 people were kidnapped from Africa and enslaved in Jamaica. When the UK abolished slavery, it took out loans to compensate former owners. Jamaican lawmakers want the same amount.

Having done as much as anyone to provoke racism I noticed on the newsstand this morning even that daily national newspaper owned by Murdoch that I would never read or buy is allegedly standing by “our three lions”. Give me strength!!

the dog whistling rhetoric of this Government must stop - one minute senior Government Ministers are saying it is OK to boo the national team for taking the knee and now it seems to be condemning the scandalous racist online abuse post-England defeat. Actions have consequences!

Just finished ‘Pale Rider’ by Laura Spinney about the history of the Spanish Flu. Obviously, could not be more relevant today. I’m genuinely shocked at how much we could have learnt from it, had the Government been properly prepared for a pandemic
