Eastern Road will be closed all weekend (8-10 July) next to the 3Ts Redevelopment at RSCH. This is to allow a crane to lift 300 tonnes of soil into planters across the new building. We will then be ready to bring plant life into the heart of the redevelopment. University Hospitals Sussex

We took the first step towards having plant life in the heart of the 3Ts Redevelopment at the weekend. A crane lifted 300 tonnes of topsoil into 20 planters in the Stage 1 Building. Trees, shrubs, and flowers will complete these stress-relieving green spaces during the autumn.

Join some of our clinical staff as they visit the location of the new state-of-the-art theatres in the 3Ts Redevelopment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The seven new theatre spaces will help with our plans to reduce waiting times for surgery. ow.ly/Cgby50JV0vC

Did you know...? The Stage 1 Building will be the new home for the wards and many of the services from the oldest acute hospital building in the NHS, the Barry Building. It opened in 1828, 20 years before Florence Nightingale started nursing. Time for a change. #3TsDidYouKnow

Take a look at Level 7 of the Stage 1 building, which will be home to Critical Care. Members of the Critical Care team visited the area recently to take a look at the specialist medical equipment and the improved environment for both patients and staff.

When the Stage 1 building of our Royal Sussex County Hospital redevelopment opens in spring 2023, it won’t just offer a new home for many wards and services. It will also showcase the work of local artists through the Connect public art programme. 1/2

Did you know? The first of 3 new MRI’s has been set up in the Stage 1 Building at the County Hospital? It is next to one of our new neurosurgery theatres and will allow images of patients’ brains to be taken during operations. It’s called an intraoperative MRI. #didyouknow #3ts

Thank you to everyone who suggested a name for the Stage 1 Building at the County Hospital. We will now review all 690 entries and make a short list. Our Board will make the final decision from that list, and the name will be announced towards the end of the year.
