🚨 I’m sharing this to prevent others from suffering. I’ve been admitted TWICE to MUSC Health after two spinal surgeries. Both times I experienced pain, dismissal, and inaction. This is a thread about medical neglect, systemic failure, and what broken care really looks like. 🧵

📍April 8: Spinal cord detethering 📍May 21: Occiput-to-C2 fusion After both surgeries, my health declined. My skull swells. My bones burn. I have fluid/gas leaks into my thecal sac. Yet MUSC Health dismissed this as “pain management” — no testing. #MedicalGaslighting

🔥 10/10 pain 💥 Blood pressure over 180 🦴 Bone pain in pelvis, skull, and thighs 🧠 Cognitive decline 🗣 Throat spasms and seizures 🦵 Numbness, tingling in arms and legs Still: NO imaging. NO IV meds. NO answers. This is neglect. #PatientRights

On June 12, I was transferred to MUSC after a Novant CT scan showed: ✅ Worsening skull swelling ✅ Gas/fluid into my thecal sac ✅ Hematologic abnormalities MUSC refused to review it. Instead, they gave me the SAME oral meds that already failed. #HealthcareFailure

When I asked about hematology or oncology (due to abnormal smears, anemia, and paraneoplastic signs), the attending said: “We have no record of that.” But I had already sent 24 MyChart messages + emails. I even called MUSC Advocacy and got no response. #Neglect

I’ve contacted: 📞 MUSC Complaint Dept (twice – zero follow-up) 📞 MUSC President’s Office (“We don’t log calls”) 📞 Oncology (they said I’d be seen inpatient – never happened) 📞 My insurance (UMR) – THEY called the hospital. No response. #SystemicFailure

Instead of investigating WHY my health is declining, I’m told to “manage pain.” NO effort to find the cause. Just blame the patient. This culture — led by Dr. Sunil Patel’s team — has left me worse after BOTH surgeries. And now they act like it’s not their issue. #Accountability

Dr. Patel literally told me last stay: “I don’t know why you were referred to me.” Hours later, his PA told me I was being discharged with the same failed meds. Now I’m back in the hospital… being given those same meds again. #MedicalInjustice
