After a busy summer we have just 510 books left in the New section of our web site. Due to finding boxes of stock unopened since our move some of these "new" books are quite hairy. Worth a look, especially as I have worked out how to apply a whole site discount at the checkout...

A much bigger buiding than you'd suppose from the road. GSV has lots of views of it from the platform. It's such a dismal sight at present, I do hope it can be restored and found a use.

The beautiful GNRI Mills designed yellow brick station building on the Up platform is still there as is a similar one at Lisburn.

Yesterday we unveiled the 2024 Railway Heritage Awd for the best project on a closed line, sponsored by National Highways. The winner was the stunning conversion of Newtyle goods shed, 1840s vintage and closed in 1963, to residential accommodation.

Terrific terracotta. The grandest survivor of Leicester’s stations is Midland Rly London Road, now East Midlands Railway (EMR). Charles Trubshaw’s 1895 baroque facade has handmade signage to porte cochère & tiled booking hall. Note Wyvern emblems of Midland Rly & cherubs sit by locomotives!

#OnThisDay 82 years ago Tidal Basin station closed. It was located between Canning Town and Custom House on the North Woolwich route, slightly west of today's Royal Victoria DLR. Its closure was caused by air raid damage, as seen here in this 1943 image buff.ly/jxR3SyZ
