In his speech today, the Health Secretary failed to mention that 86% of the public believe the NHS is in a bad state. Instead, he fuelled division, with plans that can actively deter trans individuals from accessing services. Patients are suffering while he plays politics.

Today the Prime Minister has recognised that to improve public services you need to invest in the people vital to delivering them. His empty promises to the NHS have no such commitment. Once again nursing staff are being left behind by this government.

NEW 🚨 | NHS England Sickness and Absence Rates show an increase in nursing staff sickness caused by anxiety, stress, depression & other psychiatric illnesses, making up 26.1% of all absence in June 2023. Failure to invest in the NHS forces staff to become patients themselves.

The patronising and patriarchal attitudes at the heart of Downing Street led to female nursing staff being sent onto the NHS frontline without proper protection - PPE that was fitted for male bodies. We raised this issue in 2020. We were ignored.
