Thank you to British Cycling and their agencies for putting on a really great Community Day at RAF Shawbury on Saturday. Over 70 children from families at RAF Shawbury & Cosford enjoyed coaching sessions 'on the ramps' and the professional rider demonstrations were just awesome.

Last week, RAF Shawbury hosted ‘Cricket Shropshire’ for a 2-day cricket camp. This was delivered by English Cricket Board qualified coaches as part of the Station Youth Provision Summer Programme for Service family children.

The Station Commander opened the brand new Robin's Playground and Forest School area at our RAFAKidz Nursery this week. The new facilities were made possible through funding from Community Support, the previous Squirrels Nursery Committee and our Whole Force partner ESS.

Reflecting on our support of the Team GB BMX Freestylers, coaching for our families and a National BMX competition. Silver medal winner Kieran Reilly was back for the event and said that the training facilities RAF Shawbury definitely contributed to his success at the Olympics.

On Sunday, sixty staff and trainees from RAF Shawbury paraded in Shrewsbury to commemorate the Battle of Britain. It was 84 years ago that 2,954 aircrew from 13 different nations, immortalised in Churchill’s words ‘The Few’, successfully defended Britain’s freedom from the air.
