VE Day celebrations with Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 🇬🇧

Last week, we had a Wellbeing day thanks to our fab PTA who organised ‘Just Bee’ to come into school and provide wellbeing sessions to all Year groups. After a tough year for children and staff, it was lovely to enjoy yoga, breathing techniques, mindfulness and sensory activities

Our amazing Y6s have finished their SATs! They have worked so hard and we are all so proud. Here they are looking great in their leavers’ hoodies!

This week year 1&2 have been learning about fractions.

Y6 had a fantastic day bowling for their end of SATs treat. Thank you to our wonderful PTA for paying for the bowling, lunch and the bus trip there and back!

Y5/6 have been investigating how different ‘beaks’ affect a bird’s ability to collect different types of food as part of their science learning on evolution #QueenswayScience

Year 1&2 have been learning how to compose digital music.

Look what crawled onto the ceiling of Year 1&2… a spider!!!

Our lovely volunteer, Vanessa, brought in her parents’ diaries and photographs from WW2 to enhance the children’s learning on the subject. They were fascinated and these wonderful sources gave us a fascinating insight into the lives ordinary people during the war. Thank you!

Y5/6 requested a water fight for their class reward. We all got very, very wet, laughed a lot and had a wonderful time! Great memories 🔫💧💦

Year 1&2 have been learning about habitats. We are slowly exploring all the different habitats around our school.

Year 1&2 learnt how to chop food safely today. I wonder what we could make…?

Today, some of our budding artists were invited to a special workshop. They made fantastic mixed media collages that will be displayed this weekend at the exhibition at St Oswald’s church. Please feel free to visit if you can!

We’ve had a great day at Abbey House Museum and Kirkstall Abbey learning about how toys have changed over time. What was your favourite toy?

We had a wonderful day at Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Friday, courtesy of our fantastic PTA. The children made us so proud with their excellent behaviour and a great day was had by all!
