Amazing to have so many family members at the unveiling of our 17th Purple Plaque yesterday. Thank you to everyone who came along to the event at her former family home in Roath, Cardiff. Bernice Rubens: The first & only woman from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 (to date!) to win the Booker Prize.

Minnie Pallister’s life was so fantastic not even a thriller writer could imagine it. A feminist, pacifist and socialist, she was twice accused of sedition in the First World War before travelling to Nazi Germany in late 1938 and 1939 to rescue Jews buff.ly/4esH1b6
