70% of UK land is farmed. If we want nature to recover, this is where it happens. Farmers like James Rebanks are already doing it – farming with wildlife, not against it. But without proper funding, we risk losing it all. Rachel Reeves: increase funding, grow our future.

Huge thanks to James Rebanks for showing us what’s possible when farming works with nature. The evidence is there. The benefits are clear. What’s missing? Government backing. It really is that simple Rachel Reeves.❗️

Total idiots Every metric shows we are creating problems Damaging our own farming community and then importing more Makes zero sense

Of course the irony in all of Sir Jon Cunliffe's interim report this morning? It's got a nice picture of a chalk stream on the front cover yet it won't do a damn thing to save any of them. Ho hum.

On #WorldEnvironmentDay2025 I urge the government to continue to support nature friendly farming in the uplands where we have the opportunity to restore habitats while producing food. Small changes to existing farming systems can make a big difference to biodiversity.

That’s why I have no time at all for rewilding narratives that are aligned with aristocratic estates that destroy communities, bully people, and align with powerful corporations that poison lakes etc etc Fuck em That isn’t a vision for a liveable future It’s poisonous

This picture depicts a devastating scene that conservationists are seeing up and down the country this breeding season. Lots of hard work is going into protecting these birds; working with farmers, landowners, and collaboration with other conservation groups. We are now

"A water company has confirmed one of its treatment works was the source of pollution that killed thousands of fish in a Cornish river." I see South West Water are up to their old tricks again. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

How we treat rivers as sewage dumping grounds needs to change. This amazing underwater aquatic world right on your doorstep is suffering. Then add chemical, pharmaceutical, soil run off, plastics etc etc. We are in a sorry state. #pollution #freshwaterfish RiverActionUK

Record warming Arctic Circle and record surface Methane Emissions: you still do not panic about Carbon sinks, no the cheating CEO is still more funny? This is no surprise the powerful are like us - kicking the can down the street, so no one is coming to cool down the Permafrost

So much good environmental stuff happening in the uplands. The areas known to me are probably going through the most radical nature restoration for centuries. Massive credit to partners like Ullswater Catchment Management CIC who work with farmers like us to get stuff done.

For at least 10 years I have warned that if the major political parties failed to rise to rural issues - particularly relating to farming, food and the environment - then the populist right would run riot It’s now happening Well done, you absolute fuckwits

James Rebanks (@herdyshepherd1) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ag social media is now full of farmers who were delivering the desired environmental outcomes and now have zero support to do so, so are having to replace this income with intensive land uses that effectively undo the work they did before What a pathetic unravelling

Yup. And yet a study vaccinating badgers reduced TB to zero. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
