We may be biased, but camping is one of the best ways to relax and recharge! To ensure all visitors get a good night's sleep, full alcohol and cannabis bans will be in effect from July 31st to August 3rd.

Alders are familiar shrubs in open wet areas and along creek banks. In early spring, some buds will open to reveal dangling catkins with many male flowers containing pollen. This pollen will get blown around to pollinate the female catkins which look like small cones.

Serviceberries can often be found on rocky outcrops and forest edges. There are a few different species that can be a challenge to distinguish between, but the berries are colliqually referred to as "saskatoons" and are one of the larger berries one can see on a hike.

Skunk Currant: The erect, bristly based flowers of this currant often distinguishes it from other native currants in the park. The name comes from the skunk-like odour of the crushed leaves. Despite the "skunky" taste of the berries as well, they are surprisingly palatable.

Spreading Dogbane: Often found in open areas and along roadsides, speading dogbane can resemble milkweed and even exude a milky sap from its leaves and stems. Research suggests however, that monarch caterpillars won't survive on it like they do on milkweed.
