I need to learn to blink when working as a reader. My eyes are blurry. I just read ten, 785 wc - 4000 wc short stories and essays. I don't know why blinking in this mode is so difficult. Will I miss a writer's intention, is that my fear? 🤣 #writerscommunity #writersoftwitter

This happened in the town I grew up in too in the 80s and 90s, in California. This is not a new story. It's a xenophobic classic. The only thing new about this story is that it started as a FB post and went viral. It's gross that it is being recycled.

Don't judge my writing by my poor social media grammar, I am paid to write. I require payment for good punctuation. 🤣

When we hear hateful rhetoric in our communities we have to speak out and do our part. This type of xenophobic rant keeps getting recycled. The 1st time I heard "they are stealing and cooking cats" was in the 80s, I was in primary school and it was about Chinese immigrants.

I transcribed a short story that I wrote in Colette Sartor's Prompted Workshop during the pandemic into a 5 minute short. Just finished writing the screenplay. It's the better container for this story.

These are the things that have improved my creative writing in the past 2 years: 1) Improving my fluency in my 2nd language (funny how a 2nd language can improve the 1st) 2) Being an editor 3) Being a reader (for mags & anthologies)

I don't like nice. If I create a story, sculpture, painting or film that doesn't work, tell me. I value thoughtful feedback, then I can grow or acknowledge a difference of opinion. The worst form of art is that which elicits nothing. To me that is failure. Art=feeling.

I found out my mentor died in 2022. I am heart broken even though it is old news. He helped me get into film school and apply for scholarships. He was the 1st instructor I had ever had believe in me. RIP Casey.

I feel like social media is screaming into the void. Often, I do not see the point. Perhaps, I am not interesting enough for the void to validate me. 🤣

Disabled people do not recover fast from natural disasters. Damages, trauma, physical and psychological effects can last years. Community involvement is vital, and mutual aid is crucial.

Stop blaming disabled people who don't evacuate! It’s not "don't", it’s they CAN’T. It's a privilege to evacuate. It costs money, transportation, and resources. Let’s also not forget that there’s a limited amount of accessible rooms hotels have. My thoughts are with Florida

I am bummed I did not get selected for a grant. I am appreciative they informed me before announcing the winners. That is a luxury not much afforded to applicants these days.

A couple of people that passed had disabilities. My Uber driver even told me that there's not enough drivers to help evacuate wheelchair users. When we say that Disabled people are one of the most vulnerable in crisis, listen to us and include us in emergency planning.
