Really good news that Nazanin has been released on furlough, credit to tireless campaigning by husband Richard and her friends. But being in prison AT ALL is gross injustice and she must be PERMANENTLY released for which every effort will continue Free Nazanin

At Portsmouth Central Library today I opened a 'Thank You' Royal British Legion Exhibition to some inspirational women of First World War including forgotten women such as poet Beatrix Brice Miller and Betty Stevenson who worked at a YMCA cateen in France. Fascinating & poignant

Please read Royal Historical Society Report 'Race, Ethnicity & Equality in UK History'. It highlights how History staff less diverse than other UK university staff, 85% of all academics white but 93.7% of historians. Depressing but important reading.

Saw Mike Leigh's film Peterloo today. Brilliant - and I shed a tear. The contempt that ruling classes had for working men demanding their democratic right to vote & for Manchester to have an elected MP. No mention of votes for women but echoes into the suffragette movement.

Forgot to say, apparently funding for the statue of Annie Kenney has not been reached. If anyone can contribute, however small an amount, the organisers be most grateful. Think you can find details on google.

We fully support Keir Starmer's call for separate Universal Credit payments. Perpetrators use single payments to control their victim, restrict her access to money, and make it even harder for her to leave. independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

You will never be forgotten, Sarah. Blessings for you, your family and close friends, and those many people who grieve for your loss. We must do more to stop this kind of assault on women ever happening again.

What lovely news in the midst of this brutal, illegal war Putin is waging on a democratic, sovereign country in Europe. Dogs are very intelligent.
