Katherine Dunham was a brilliant, pioneering dancer, choreographer, scholar (UChicago trained anthropologist) and activist. Blows my mind to see her in this film. #tcmparty

Score — only drums—composed and performed by jazz great and Oscar Micheaux admirer Max Roach. Stunning. Notice when he goes silent. #SymbolofTheUnconquered #TCMParty

REFORM SCHOOL ('39) had been considered a “lost film” for many years until a 16mm print was donated by Giancarlo Esposito and Laurence Fishburne to the Academy Film Archive, who restored it in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Arts.

It was such a pleasure to have you at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures today, Adam Aron! If only to thank you for keeping Nicole Kidman’s famous reflection on “heartbreak” on the big screen alive. 🙏🏽👏🏾💔
