Food insecurity & access to adequate nutrition are issues of growing concern in SL. The US supports Food and Agriculture Organization, WFP Sri Lanka, @SaveTheChildren & others to give meals to school children, build community gardens, & provide farmers w fertilizer so that no one is left behind. #WorldFoodDay
Seventy years ago, the US & SL governments signed an agreement to launch The Fulbright Program here in Sri Lanka. Over the years, more than 2000 students and scholars have participated in Fulbright’s academic and cultural exchanges, experiences that have enriched both countries.
On this #WomeninScienceDay, I’m thinking of notable SL female scientists like Drs. Pradeepa Bandaranayake and Dr. Asha de Vos and all others who are at the helm of their fields while also nurturing & developing the next generation of scientists here in SL.
