Had a great night at Royal Armouries Conference & Events with Classics for All, celebrating our annual Impact Awards. I was proud to celebrate Emma Noble from St Ambrose High, whose stellar work in growing Classical Studies there is emblematic of the powerful impact teachers can have on their pupils!

🚨 🇫🇷Rapturous applause for Macron in Parliament! "Let's fix it. Let's work together in order to facilitate the exchange of students, researchers, intellectuals, artists. This is so important." "Let's allow our children to have the same opportunities as the one we had."

We are lending Britain an iconic jewel of our shared history: the Bayeux Tapestry. This is the first time this national treasure will leave French soil. It marks an unprecedented cultural partnership between our two countries — a powerful symbol of our Entente amicale.

The #Carlisle Roman excavation has now been backfilled for this session but hopefully funds will be raised to continue the dig soon. It was slightly damper than we would have liked but the finds were amazing. I’ll put together a full excavation video over the next month

A #Roman helmet from Neuss (Germany). It apparently once belonged to a soldier named Terentius Romanus - we know this because he punched his name into the neckplate, perhaps to make sure that none of his fellow soldiers could take it 'by mistake' #Archaeology

- In the year to March, 96% of migrants to the UK were legal - 4% were illegal - 47% of people in a YouGov poll say there's more illegal than legal migration 'We are a gaslit nation' declares James O'Brien, as the 'sons and daughters of Brexit are fed a diet of misinformation'.

34.3 C (93.7) in Arctic Imagine if 20 or even 10 years ago - someone told you there would be weeks of over 30 C (86 F) in places like Arctic Finland People would say you were a crazed loon Yet millions of deniers out there trying to normalize this as normal

It’s brilliant to see our working class heritage being protected for future generations by funding from Historic England. Woodhorn Museum is a brilliant resource for education, a great day out for families in the summer holidays & a really meaningful place for ex-miners like me.

This is not just about Texas. This is about voters getting to choose the outcome of the next election. That’s the promise of our nation — and it’s worth fighting for.

This is what AI was made for! I generally hate it, but when it can be used to tell the truth when our leaders will not, I'll give it a 👍
