A busy day with 4th class pupils identifying wildflowers in our school grounds as a result of our #NoMowMay All-Ireland Pollinator Plan campaign to improve biodiversity in our school grounds. This is a follow on from our pollinator workshop with Edel Heeran from The Heritage Council Ben Malone
New UK research reveals that enhancing hedgerows with early blooming species, like Red dead-nettle, Hawthorn & Willow, can improve bumblebee colony success rate from 35% to 100%
