Year 1 have been learning about The Great Fire of London. They used watercolours to create their ‘fire’ backgrounds & then carefully drew a Tudor skyline of London. They chose churches, bridges & houses, then cut them out & stuck them on. They were so proud of their silhouettes.

We had a very exciting parcel arrive in the post at the end of last week - a beautiful trophy to mark our Independent Pre-prep of the Year win. And what better place to take a snap of it than in our rainforest room 🌴

As part of this term's Marvellous Me topic, Saplings have been learning about their own body and their skeletons. They have produced some amazing work to illustrate their learning 🦴 #PolamNursery

Inspired by Reggio, the children in Reception have been exploring shape and light. The children showed excitement and curiosity when manipulating objects.

All children enjoyed learning how to make a fire, following the rules and understanding the risks. Some of the children in Year 2 then chose to make them in small groups. Children had the freedom, time, and space to learn and demonstrate independence in a beautiful setting.

Last Monday, the children from Reception to Year 2 visited Akeley Wood School and enjoyed a day in the forest, exploring fairy houses, building dens, hunting for minibeasts and creating with nature.

Year 2 have paid their tributes on Remembrance Day by writing and illustrating some beautiful letters to soldiers #RemembranceDay2021

This week Reception have been creating poppy wreaths and pictures to show their respects to all soldiers. They watched a beautiful and evocative animation that sees war as experienced by animals in a WWI battlefield. #RemembranceDay2021

At the beginning of the week Years 1 and 2 took part in a Multi Sports Festival at Alexander Sports Centre and had a fabulous time learning new skills and competing alongside other local schools 🤾‍♀️🤾

As part of last week's Wellbeing activities Year 2 made suncatchers and wrote letters to give to the residents of local care home Beacon House. Yesterday they took a walk to deliver them in person. #WeekToBeWell

The children in our school may be young but we still have a Mental Health First Aider to support pupils, parents and staff alike. We are lucky.
