This afternoon around 4:00 the pilot of a small aircraft advised he needed to make an emergency landing on the roadway near Skyline and Felix after smelling an electrical fire and seeing smoke in the cabin. The pilot and a single passenger are uninjured. The roadway has reopened.

Fire Alert- SET Status A wildfire is burning in the Tonto National Forest near Apache Junction. Residents east of Mountain View Road. west of the Tonto National Forest, between Broadway Road to Lost Dutchman State Park have been placed in "SET - Be Alert" status.

FIRE UPDATE: Fire officials now estimate the #SiphonFire at approximately 12,000 acres with 0% containment. The cause remains under investigation.

As an extreme precaution, multiple areas with horse property adjacent to the mountain have been put in “Ready” or “Set” mode. The Rodeo Grounds are available as a large animal shelter site, in the event area residents are evacuated. Stay updated with Pinal County - Government.
