Read this. Black workers forced out if they speak up about racism, 'senior leaders' prioritising their pay packets over junior staff's pay and conditions, GS hiring incompetent senior managers. Sounds like our uni, but it's actually UCU .The rank-and-file deserve SO MUCH better.

After being told by the HSE to work with us to address high levels of work-related stress, we're pleased our employer accepted action was needed over the 26 stressors we identified. Unfortunately we believe the actions our employer has told the HSE they would take are inadequate.

Happy NY to you too. This is especially an attack on PGRs as we more often have partners/families. Alongside reduction of PhD funding options that cover international tuition fees, it's harder & harder to be a migrant PGR. I moved here for my PhD in 2019; I couldn't start it now.

Not only are Queen Mary University of London making the headlines today for stealing staff wages, but they appear to be refusing to follow legislation.

I have asked for an internal review of their decision not to release the requested information.

As a funded PhD student (on a small stipend which barely covers childcare) you’re not eligible for the full 30 hours free childcare when your child turns 3 either. Something that UK Research and Innovation Economic and Social Research Council desperately need to fight for for students. Times Higher Education Advance HE

Similar things were said to me too. 🙄 News flash: full time childcare isn’t affordable on a PhD stipend. PhD study should be flexible and support those with caring responsibilities. UK Research and Innovation you need to stop people saying this stuff.

We're now consulting members on a 'final' pay offer. Sadly our employer is still prioritising higher increases for senior staff, and has rejected our compromise proposal which would benefit lower-paid staff by distributing their offer as a flat sum instead of a 5% uplift. 1/6
