Use a declarative title: reviewers (and editors) will often recommend a declarative title. Instead of a hypothetical title like “Trends in groundwater storage” try “A doubling of groundwater loss since 2010”.

Recently, the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) has issued a statement titled "The use of polygenic risk scores in pre-implantation genetic testing: an unproven, unethical practice". See attached for a few thoughts. The ESHG statement: nature.com/articles/s4143…

👍Data cleaning. Can't emphasize that, visualisation and thinking about meaning enough. The problem is lots of people are having fun - just not doing anything real or useful. But hey, getting paid to have fun is nice work if you can get it (perhaps not sustainable).

I am not sure how to express how excited I am to finally see this out. We examined the causal relationship between food and health using MR, showing that food health relationships are sometimes specific, but overall a healthy diet is actually healthy! bit.ly/3MfBx55

I accidentally made a map comparing rainfall and sunshine hours across the UK in 2021. Conclusive proof that Yorkshire>Lancashire (among other things). High-res version here: github.com/VictimOfMaths/…

Several people asked us for the food liking GWAS summary stats. I am happy to announce that they are finally online. Looking forward to seeing how they will be used! ebi.ac.uk/gwas/publicati…

Every Data Scientist needs to know these ideas. They will blow your mind. 1. Correlation vs Causation P(A | B) is the probability of A given B. It is the probability that we will observe A given that we have already observed B. P(A | do(B)) is the probability of A given

Do you consider doing a PhD in statistical human genetics in a wonderful location? My lab [wp.unil.ch/sgg/] has open position(s) to explore human interactions, region-specific effects, evolutionary optimal transcript levels by developing advanced causal inference methods

I enjoyed reading this and expected some lessons for govt from the venture capital style approach the vaccine taskforce took. But the biggest lesson is one that I didn’t expect. (Short 🧵)
