🎉New paper🎉Have you ever tried to capture both daughter cells after a burst of mutagenesis? Paul did, and found mirror-image mutation phasing of #LesionSegregation

Happy to have contributed!
Robertsonian #chromosomes result from the fusion of two acrocentric or telocentric chromosomes. Jennifer Gerton suggests fusion events are driven by sequence homology (e.g., repetitive #DNA ); recombination initiation during #meiosis ; and physical proximity of fused sequences
Our new paper is out Genome Biology . A close collaboration w/ Yeger-Lotem Lab in which we explore the genomic features that shape aneuploidy patterns in human cancer. Kudos to Juman Jubran & Rachel Slutsky for spearheading this research!

Happy to announce that my most recent PhD work from the The Nogales Lab UC Berkeley is out on bioRxiv! We teamed up with Ahmet Yildiz to explore how HURP and Kif18A work together to make sure chromosomes are properly aligned during cell division.🧵⬇️

Excited that Brittany “Remission! cont.” Salazar's work on KIF15-dependent spindle assembly is now in press at Mol Biol Cell! In brief, Brittany shows that PRC1 is required for KIF15-dependent spindle assembly and that elevated PRC1 levels promote resistance to Eg5 inhibitors. Link will be posted soon!

Please see our latest findings on how BLM helicase orchestrates the damage response that executes Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres. cell.com/molecular-cell…. Great work from Haoyang Haoyang Jiang and Tianpeng Tianpeng Zhang in collaboration with Hardeep Kaur and Patrick Sung.
Thank you Arun Kumar Ganesan for the kind invitation to share our work UNM Health Sciences!
My lab is hiring postdoctoral researchers. Passionate about scientific discovery? Looking to join a dynamic, diverse and welcoming team? Intrigued by genome function and stability deregulation in cancer? This may be a great opportunity for you. #CancerResearch
