As part of my regular series on lost positives, I’m happy to report that you can be ‘consolate’ as well as ‘disconsolate’. If you’re lucky, you can also be gruntled, feckful, woeless, and in a state of total array.

Ask lots of questions before choosing your provider: Where exactly will my training programme take place? How much of my programme is on line? How much of the course is subject specific? Will I study in a group? Who awards my PGCE? What can I expect in my placement school?
