Loss of the grassland to allotments, heavy traffic use, high visitor use, high disturbance and potentially light pollution, high nutrient fertiliser pollution, pesticide pollution and noise pollution, would undermine the opportunity to restore this site for nature. Stop it now!

The site is less than 500m from 1 of Plantlife’s designated top 165 Important Plant Areas(IPAs). Due to its location, adjoining wildlife rich sites of high ecological value, this is a site with high potential to be ecological restored for wildlife +improve the network for nature

Other legally protected species are present within 500 metres of the site and could be on site but under recorded, including dormice, reptiles and other breeding birds. The fencing will prevent badgers, deer and others from crossing the field to the woods.

Legally protected great crested newts and a breeding pond are present within 500 metres of the site. It is a bat habitat area within close range of at least 8 known and legally protected bat roosts and 14 of Britain’s 17 breeding bat species have been recorded nearby.

It is an offence to kill, injure, take, damage or destroy a bird, active nest or contents. The dumping of tons of compost in the field by large lorries during breeding season is very concerning+may constitute a serious disturbance + possibly result in illegal destruction of nests

Skylarks are ground nesters on grassland. They are currently being observed singing, feeding, flying and courting on site, so it is advisable to assume they may also be breeding on site. They are legally protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The pasture sits within a Defra National Habitat Network Enhancement Zone, one of 18 priority natural habitat types in England, based on the Priority Habitat Inventory. These areas are identified as targets for habitat restoration, creation, or to address fragmentation...

The field is designated by Defra as a pasture with potential to be restored for nature, based on its characteristics and location. This would mean managing the grassland for biodiversity with an ecologically sensitive grazing regime.
