Read Across America Day was a festive celebration of books & reading 2day Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools Peabody Ss wrapped up our winter reading challenge having read 9,240 books in 8 weeks! They made reading crowns & bookmarks & took home a free book! DCPS Library Programs DC Public Schools
Such a gift 2 B allowed 2 read bedtime stories virtually w our Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools ECE students this winter as a bonus to our “Peabody Blasts Off to Read” winter reading challenge! Xcited 2 dive in2 Women’s History Month w our ECE learners Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools ! We R learning the word “history” (& moving our bodies 2 spell it!) & already Ss are aghast there was ever a time US women couldn’t vote, own a house or aspire 2 do any job! PreK & K students Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools are so excited about the start of a new ROBOT Study in Library Class! Our “turn & talk” produced lots of prior knowledge and good questions about robots and students have gone robot crazy in learning centers! DC Public Schools DCPS Library Programs
Thanks to CapHillClusterSchoolPTA, Peabody families who donated books, & our Literacy Team, students should be excited about PIZZA, BOOKS and LIVE MUSIC tonight! We’ve got lots of books for students to take home for SPRING READING!! Happy reading Panthers! DCPS Library Programs DC Public Schools
Great turnout at Bike to School Day at Lincoln Park! Fun to see the mayor, Councilmember Allen, DC Public Library mobile library and librarians and so many Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools students read to bike, and roll!!
Excited to have kindergarten/caregiver chapter book clubs back in person Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools ! Finally gave OUTDOOR learning centers a try with a moment of good spring weather today! Students engaged as builders, musicians, artists, gardeners and engineers with a choice of 7 centers. One student spelled his name “Mack” in blue blocks! DC Public Schools DCPS Library Programs
Peabody students, staff and PTA showed their heartfelt appreciation for the many hours our master gardener volunteers have dedicated this year and for many years to our habitat gardens! They keep them green, healthy and great outdoor learning spaces! CapHillClusterSchoolPTA

So proud to be a member of our Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools Field Day Team led by fabulous PE teacher Ms. King! With up to 16 stations, Peabody Panthers had mazes, obstacle courses, river rocks challenges, bubbles, frozen icees and more for LOTS of good fun! DC Public Schools

What an amazing partnership w master gardeners from the program University of the District of Columbia (UDC) , other garden volunteers, neighbors, a parent & a teacher to remove invasive vines & plants from fences surrounding the Peabody School and play areas. Amazing progress was made!Thx to CapHillClusterSchoolPTA for snacks!

So thrilled to assist Ms. Aubryn, parent volunteers w 3 FoodPrints classes today w Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools PreK & K students! They shared favorite fruits & veggies, discussed & tasted 3 apple varieties, & toured our edible & habitat gardens. We spied an Orb Weaver spider!!@FoodPrintsDC
PreK & K students Peabody and Watkins Elementary Schools ROCKED THE RED for the 2nd time this year! To celebrate the end of Hispanic Heritage Month, we sang “Amigos Amigos” with our music teacher and joined Ms. Syquia’s PreK 3 class in singing the Spanish version of “Baby Shark”! DC Public Schools
