Some pictures of our monthly visit from Golden-Oldies 12 patients joined in the 60 minute session, aiding deconditioning by staying active in hospital. By staying active patients improve mood, appetite, fatigue & breathing, whilst reducing risk of falls & pressure ulcers 💪🏼

Patients participated in a Halloween themed games event this morning👻 Lots of competitive fun involved and importantly lots of movement to reduce hospital-acquired deconditioning🎃💪🏼 ReconditionTheNation #righttorehab #EndPJParalysis

Paulton Hospital Inpatient Therapies AndyminchinOT Ami_Physio Helen Hunt Looking forward to it! Happy #OTWeek24!

Day 1- Today’s focus is Access Visits. Widely regarded as an integral role of an Occupational Therapist, we complete these to gather information that allows us to deliver personalised care, rehabilitation and discharge planning (amongst other benefits). #OTWeek24 Royal College of Occupational Therapists

Day 2- Breakfast club! Ran every Tuesday (at least), it gives patients a chance to rehabilitate in a social setting, which benefits physical, mental & social wellbeing. A great opportunity to assess meal & drink preparations whilst removing 1:1 pressures. Royal College of Occupational Therapists #OTWeek24

Day 3- Animal assisted interventions🐶 Meet Sarah & Mable from Therapy Dogs who visit us monthly. AAIs are known to improve self-esteem & confidence, whilst promoting quality of life & independence, which positively impacts occupational performance 😊 Royal College of Occupational Therapists #OTWeek24

Day 4- Wash and dress🧼 For many this is the days first ‘occupation’. Here, patients abilities are assessed & goals are collaboratively set to support regaining independence. As well as practice, aids can also be used to enhance functional performance. Royal College of Occupational Therapists #OTWeek24

(A very belated) Day 5- Adaptions. After completing initial assessments, we aim to make care as client centred as possible. We are able to further support this by making minor adaptions where needed, like the hearing loop seen here in action. Royal College of Occupational Therapists #OTWeek24

Our Christmas Advent Calendar is live! Throughout December we have activities planned to help prevent hospital acquired deconditioning. By rehabilitating in ways outside the box, we’re able to improve physical, mental & social outcomes. ReconditionTheNation #ReconditionTheNation

Our very own Christmas Elf demonstrating the new Cubii machines kindly funded by the League of Friends. These seated resistance machines allow patients to easily complete exercise whilst in hospital. We are using them daily on the ward to prevent deconditioning💪🏼 ReconditionTheNation

Really enjoyed presenting the Cubii Project tonight at the CommHospsUK best practice discussion. Excellent conversations about deconditioning & the importance of rehabilitation. It’s incredible how one simple innovative idea can gain momentum & benefit so many patients!🌟

🌟 New Deconditioning Poster!🌟 Aiming to increase awareness of deconditioning and highlight clear actions that can be taken to prevent hospital acquired deconditioning. #EndPJParalysis ReconditionTheNation
