A hint of something happening with Cydia amplana, 3 Palpita vitrealis and 4 Rush Veneer in the trap. Migrant Lepidoptera. Marsh Harrier high over the garden this morning. From Silverlake: Marsh Damsel Bug and Wasp Spider plus egg sac, the latter something I've not seen before.
Weymouth: 6 Palpita vitrealis this morning very probably suggestive of local breeding? 2 Red Underwing prove itβs autumn. Migrant Lepidoptera
Checked out one of Dorset's Iron Age Hillforts for Autumn Lady's Tresses today, a site I've seen them at previously. A superb display with a conservative count of 120+, pretty much all in one area. Also good numbers of the beautiful Autumn Gentian. Wild Orchids UK & Ireland
Of limited interest these days, but there is an Osprey sat on the crest of Chesil Beach eating a fish. Directly across from Rodden Hive. Dorset Bird Club
Of little interest to many people, but a group of 5 Mandarin at Warmwell Cressbeds is of some note in Dorset, they are never easy to find. Dorset Bird Club
A series of guided bird walks around Silverlake this morning luckily coincided with a flyover Osprey. Amazingly, the first I've ever seen here! Dorset Bird Club
Just to prove they still exist, a Small Tortoiseshell from Moonfleet this morning. Only the second I've seen this year. Best of the birds was a Merlin chasing Mipits. Dorset Bird Club Butterfly Conservation π¦
Weymouth: best from today was my 2nd record of Epinotia tenerana (Nut Bud Moth). Otherwise, Portland Ribbon Wave and a 2nd gen Buff Ermine worth a mention Dorset Moths
