Following last month's Budget announcement, Dove House Hospice faces a £500k funding gap due to employer National Insurance and minimum wage hikes. With the hospice sector already facing a £60m deficit, sustainable funding is urgently needed. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Thank you Peter Lamb MP 🌹 and Joshua Reynolds MP for raising questions about the hospice sector in today's PMQs. While the PM’s recognition of funding challenges is positive, sustainable funding is urgently needed and we look forward to working with government to find a solution.

Good news for the hospice sector. We want to ensure anyone living with a life-limiting illness has access to the best possible care. This additional government support is a welcome step forward.

I am elated by this announcement from Wes Streeting & Stephen Kinnock regarding hospice funding. As co-chair of the Hospices APPG, I thank Hospice UK & @brumhospice for working closely with me, and I will now be asking the Govt to set out a long-term plan for hospice funding in the UK.

Huge thank you to Microsoft for sponsoring our Hospice UK #HospiceTechLeaders event today. Bringing their expertise and resources to help a group of hospice leaders in the UK deliver better care for dying people is real social impact!

At Health and Social Care Committee, I asked Centre for Mental Health’s Kadra Abdinasir about mental health support during the transition to adulthood. For many, reaching adulthood becomes a cliff edge for support. We must do better to ensure continuity and care for young people when they need it most.

Pleased to have joined cross party MPs at the inaugural meeting of the APPG on Emergency Care. The group will focus on looking at the corridor care crises caused by hospital overcrowding and the severe shortage of beds. A critical issue demanding urgent action!

Black people are four times more likely to be detained under the Mental Health Act, a shocking inequality that cannot be ignored. On #InternationalWomensDay2025, I asked Dawn Butler ✊🏾💙 to mark the day by recognising that tackling these disparities must be a priority.

Hospice and end-of-life care should be available to all, now and forever, as Paul Jennings rightly explains. With growing demand, sustainable funding is essential. Thanks to Hospice UK for tirelessly championing hospice care and pushing for long-term support.
