John Cunliffe’s report, at 464 pages, is incredibly thorough. Although ownership of water companies was not in his terms of reference he does discuss it in detail and is pretty clear nationalisation is NOT a silver bullet…here’s a thread on why.

Conservatism is supposedly a disposition not an ideology. But today’s Conservative Party is split between two dispositions and both of them are deeply flawed. From me for ConservativeHome: conservativehome.com/2025/07/22/pet…

My The Telegraph piece in the wake of my Policy Exchange report on the Future of the Right. If we really want to fix our problems, we must fix the House of Commons. It isnt' working. tinyurl.com/573f44m3

The great Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges (1899 – 1986) explains why English is “a far finer language than Spanish.” I was very impressed by his collection of short stories, Ficciones.

Katie Lam’s powerful speech about CSE gangs in Parliament now has ‘restricted access’ on X following the Online Safety Act coming into force. The speech quoted directly from victims. Their voices are being silenced by state regulation.

"The state is refusing to do what the public expects, and deliberately doing the opposite – often in secret, often lying about it, and in defiance of the democratic premise that political power derives from popular consent." My latest on Epping and more: nicktimothy.co.uk/p/the-state-is…

The literary depth and disciplined reading habits of early 20th-century miners easily surpass those of many contemporary students, including some with English degrees.

For many years, people have urged me to rebuke James O’Brien for his role in shamelessly supporting Carl Beech. Until now, I have resisted, but I’m one of the few still alive to respond. For those unable to view online, attached is my article in The Telegraph today.

To achieve Kemi Badenoch's aim the Conservatives must ensure that people within the party understand their own intellectual tradition. A college, an education centre, public lectures, history and philosophy being taught and leaders within the party articulating this tradition.

Dr Daniel Pitt (@danjtpitt) 's Twitter Profile Photo

All of these things have been done before e.g. Swinton College; Conservative Political Centre; Quintin Hogg's The Case for Conservatism; Disraeli's Crystal Palace speech. The party has to take ideas and their dissemination not only seriously but structurally invest in them.

CNN just staged a feel-good story about Tauqir Sharif, whose UK citizenship was revoked for his ties to al-Qaeda.  A formal Islamophobia definition could’ve made taking terrorists like him off British streets much harder. Here's why 🧵: youtu.be/7N-mvmbeX2Y?fe…
