FOOD SECURITY: Community Partnership Group (CPG): To gain access to food through #SNAP benefits, people shouldn’t have to prove their worth or deservedness. Get rid of the interview, remove time limits, and prohibit drug felony bans.

There's a history of racism that illustrates Black and brown people as inherently lazy, so those who are working are worthy of public benefits and those who don't work as unworthy. This perpetuates racial and gender stereotypes and inequity. #CPGTweets

[Work requirements] do nothing to address the inequities or promote economic stability. Taking away food assistance for those struggling to find work does nothing to help people. #CPGTweets

Families need the #CTC to be a from of liberation, not another failed work requirement rooted in racism and sexism that perpetuates slavery in our safety net! cssp.org/wp-content/upl…

Rice, beans, cheese, meat. How are people supposed to feed their families?! The #FoodPolice should be rejected by all sides!! Instead, listen to real #SNAP customers who want more choices like ending the outdated ban on rotisserie chickens or hot soups! #SNAPmatters

To be clear, what Iowa is proposing isn't allowed under SNAP. But the "hot foods rule" already means you can't use SNAP to buy a rotisserie chicken. Members of the Community Partnership Group Community Partnership Group (CPG) told us how infuriating these restrictions are.

SNAP policies have focused too narrowly on individual choice and behavior, perpetuating systemic inequities rather than eradicating the underlying causes of poverty and hunger. clasp.org/publications/f… Community Partnership Group (CPG) @ELB_CLASP Parker Gilkesson

Yesterday, Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) released a deplorable bill, and here’s what I and a colleague of mine, Teon, have to say about it! Check it out! clasp.org/blog/work-requ…
