cell.com/trends/ecology… Another paper showing the profound confusion the field has managed to find itself in. 1. There is a clear, consistent and and phylogenetically ordered animal fossil record from c 574 Ma onwards across several preservation types.

2. Molecular clock studies suggesting a deep animal origin are based on a methodological artefact so that the true evidence from the fossil record is distorted. 3. Thus we have no good reason to think that animals greatly predated their fossil record.
