Check out this amazing new paper with some crazy implications!!

• This is now the oldest and possibly the most basal catfish fossil.

• Loricariidae, which lives exclusively in South America today, seems to have originated in Africa!

Here is a fragment of the posterior margin of the median dorsal plate of (pointed out in the second image). The dorsal fin inserts itself in the notch. This feature is unique among arthrodiran placoderms!
