Important to understand that deaths due to #AMR in LMICs are driven by an excess of infections. Access to the right #antibiotics to effectively treat affected individuals, along with efforts to prevent these infections (with #vaccines and #IPC ) are paramount.

#AMR is a child survival issue. Children under five (almost all in LMICs) were estimated to account for 20% (248K) of all AMR attributable deaths in 2019. This crisis needs a multi-pronged response.

#AntimicrobialResistance contributes to 5+ million deaths annually. To bring this crisis under control, we need:
-Responsible use of antimicrobials
-Strong infection prevention & control
-Safer food & agricultural production
-Access to clean water, sanitation, hygiene, & vaccines

#neonatalsepsis due to #AMR bacteria is a crisis in LMICs that threatens progress in reducing infant and newborn mortality. It mandates urgent, multi-pronged solutions: access to appropriate #treatment and better prevention with new #vaccines and improved #IPC . #WAAW 👇🏽
