On this 🇺🇳 Intl Day Commemorating Victims of Violence Based on Religion or Belief, 🇵🇱 hosted a discussion on the ways to prevent these heinous acts, with a special focus on women and girls. We stay in solidarity with the victims and support freedom of religion or belief for all.

Today, we commemorate #BlackRibbonDay. It was set on the anniversary of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact signing, which tore apart Central and Eastern Europe between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. We honour those who died under Soviet and Nazi German terror.

On the 65th anniversary of Rafał Lemkin's death, Amb. Krzysztof Szczerski, Alice Wairimu Nderitu🇺🇳, and Polish Consulate NYC 🇵🇱 honored the visionary 🇵🇱 lawyer who coined the term 'genocide' and initiated the 1948 Genocide Convention. His legacy inspires fighters for justice and human rights worldwide.

We're thrilled to inaugurate the exhibition 'Lemkin: Witness to the Age of Genocide' by The Pilecki Institute at Poland in the UN. Rafał Lemkin dedicated his life to defining and combating genocide - a 'crime of crimes.' We need to carry forward his legacy and spread the knowledge about him.

The epitaph on Raphael Lemkin’s grave simply reads “Father of the Genocide Convention”. One line summary of a “bigger than life” story, of resistance & persistence. 65 yrs later, we paid respects to that extraordinary life w Poland in the UN & previewed the exhibit honoring his legacy.

At #UNSC mtg, Amb. Krzysztof Szczerski informed about repeated violations of 🇵🇱 airspace, and thus of NATO airspace, by Russian air assaults. 💬🇷🇺 aggression against🇺🇦 stands in stark contrast with our efforts to build a stable and peaceful world based on respect for international law.

Poland is disturbed by the shrinking humanitarian space in Gaza. 🇺🇳 World Food Programme convoy was struck by gunfire. Thankfully, no one was hurt, unlike in the IDF attack on World Central Kitchen, which left 7 dead, including a 🇵🇱 citizen. Safety and security of aid workers in Gaza must be ensured.

On 1 September 1939, German troops crossed 🇵🇱 borders at dawn without a declaration of war, thus beginning the Second World War.   Today we pay respect to those who suffered under Nazi German and Soviet terror.   We will never forget the price they paid for freedom.

We regret that the President of the Russian Federation's visit to Mongolia has taken place while he is under an International Criminal Court arrest warrant, and Mongolia is a State Party to the ICC Statute. This visit undermines the international criminal justice system.

Poland in the UN's DPR Michal Miarka at the UNICEF Board session: 🗨️ As 🇵🇱 concludes its term on the UNICEF Executive Board (2022-2024), we reaffirm our deep commitment to children's rights worldwide. We are grateful for UNICEF's vital work, especially in conflict zones like Ukraine.

Remembering the 85th anniv. of the outbreak of #WW2 we honored at Poland in the UN the legacy of Rafał Lemkin - a Polish-Jewish lawyer whose tragic experiences of war fueled his relentless fight against the 'crime of crimes' - genocide and led to the adoption of the🇺🇳Genocide Convention.

Today, military and police representatives from Member States’ Missions to United Nations and members of the Polish Army Veterans in America Association (SWAP) joined Poland in the UN event held in Polish Consulate NYC 🇵🇱 in order to celebrate the Polish Armed Forces Day.

UNHCR’s Kiran Kaur pleased to meet SRSG Pramila Patten, the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Sexual Violence in Conflict, as she transits to Ukraine. The situation of Ukrainian #refugees in Poland discussed — including survivors who we collectively strive to protect and empower.

Poland in the UN DPR during the UNSC underlined Polish unwavering support towards peacekeeping operations, including through partnerships with regional organizations - AU, EU and NATO. "Peacekeeping is not a beauty contest, peace and security is our common goal for future generations".
