In the space of 20 seconds, Angela Eagle goes from suggesting that Owen Jones criticisms could cost Labour the election to denying that he has any leverage at all.

The same people who currently ridicule my confidence that Labour will clearly easily win the next election will also spend election night watching Labour's inevitable easy win going 'HAHA LEFTIES IN YOUR FACE!!'

Just very disingenuous people!

The argument Starmer made in the Labour leadership election - correctly! - was that Labour members did not have to choose between power and transformational policies.

He didn't offer vague principles subject to terms and conditions. He offered 'pledges': i.e. cast iron promises.

The idea that no parent is homophobic and no child ever needs protected from parents is clearly ludicrous as Owen Jones correctly says. Of course children shouldn’t be outed to their parents against their will. School (like home) should be a safe place.

One of the reasons Starmer supporters are so mad with Owen Jones is because they know he’s right & they have no answer. They just want everyone to love Keir Starmer like they do & ignore all the rest. Not happening. If it was a Tory, they’d be damning.

Labour knows the next election is in the bag thanks to the Tory implosion.

They're pretending otherwise because they want an astronomical majority which protects them from any public pressure.

Meanwhile, they back a Tory two child benefit cap which drives kids into poverty.
