I thought the South African team was the antisemitic legal arm of Hamas, not his former letter of recommendation for a full scholarship. What kind of antisemitism is this? I am confused

In the space of 20 seconds, Angela Eagle goes from suggesting that Owen Jones criticisms could cost Labour the election to denying that he has any leverage at all.

The same people who currently ridicule my confidence that Labour will clearly easily win the next election will also spend election night watching Labour's inevitable easy win going 'HAHA LEFTIES IN YOUR FACE!!'

Just very disingenuous people!

The argument Starmer made in the Labour leadership election - correctly! - was that Labour members did not have to choose between power and transformational policies.

He didn't offer vague principles subject to terms and conditions. He offered 'pledges': i.e. cast iron promises.

The idea that no parent is homophobic and no child ever needs protected from parents is clearly ludicrous as Owen Jones correctly says. Of course children shouldn’t be outed to their parents against their will. School (like home) should be a safe place.

One of the reasons Starmer supporters are so mad with Owen Jones is because they know he’s right & they have no answer. They just want everyone to love Keir Starmer like they do & ignore all the rest. Not happening. If it was a Tory, they’d be damning.

Labour knows the next election is in the bag thanks to the Tory implosion.

They're pretending otherwise because they want an astronomical majority which protects them from any public pressure.

Meanwhile, they back a Tory two child benefit cap which drives kids into poverty.

Owen Jones - We have Liz Truss’s crew here (The Growth Commission) to recommend how we put growth into n the economy.
I think everyone looking at their sorry mortgage and rents will remember how those ideas went.

Fascinated by these comments.

I criticised Labour for having no policies on child poverty, opposing hiking taxes on the rich, and a fiscal rule which bakes in austerity,

What is unrealistic here, and how does this diverge from anything I would ever have argued?

Owen Jones provides Eagle with a concrete example of him lying.

Labour are going to win the next election thanks to the Tories destroying themselves in office.

But Labour don’t have any answers to the crises of modern Britain.

If we don’t put pressure on them, then the migrant-bashing rich-worshipping Right will instead.

With the Labour leadership blocking Corbyn as a Labour candidate at the next election, Owen Jones thinks he should stand as an independent.

Owen goes on to explain why he left the Labour party with an analysis of the next 5-10 years that I think is spot on.

Angela Eagle tells Owen Jones that going around saying Keir Starmer is dishonest helps the Tories.

If pointing out Keir Starmer is an unprincipled liar helps the Tories, maybe Starmer shouldn't be an unprincipled liar?
