No. The Roman Empire was a diverse empire. It included parts of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. For years, Romans were depicted often as a bunch of white Britons - which is absurd because Britain was barely in the empire. There was no outcry about that then or calling that

To pretend there was a lack of diversity in these civilizations does a disservice to our modern understandings of these complex cultures. That's why, in our film, we presented Ovid's story with a cast that more closely resembled the actual community around this influential poet
