Thousands of Congolese flee to #Uganda– Africa’s largest refugee host, sheltering 1.8 million refugees. Since Jan, 41,000+ have fled DRC to Uganda. Amid drastic funding cuts, the surge is overwhelming its overstretched, threadbare response capacity ⬇️ unhcr.org/news/briefing-…

Since January, over 41,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo 🇨🇩 have sought safety in Uganda 🇺🇬, bringing the total number of Congolese in Uganda to nearly 600,000. Matthew Crentsil, head of UNHCR Uganda, warns that reception centres at the border are overflowing.

Most refugees fleeing violence caused by the warring military in Sudan are women and children. Because of aid cuts we are giving them less food, shelter, water, medicine. I appeal to donors from the Chad/Sudan border: please do not reduce support to the victims of the Sudan war!

#Sudan: Since start of war 2 years ago, almost 13 million were forced to flee, making Sudanese the largest displaced population in Africa. Now, amid worst funding outlook in decades, critical, life-saving aid programmes threatened and refugees at risk: unhcr.org/news/briefing-…

The devastating conflict in #Sudan is entering its third year, still as tragic. So much suffering, so many people displaced, some that I have met who hope to one day return home. But as #peace delays, this hope wanes. It is time for a turning point. unhcr.org/news/briefing-…

I was in Chad. I saw Sudanese refugees arriving, fleeing violence in Darfur. Unless efforts to bring the parties to the Sudan conflict to the negotiating table become serious, the humanitarian crisis will keep growing — as resources to support the response continue to decline.

26 years in UNHCR and I have rarely seen a crisis of this magnitude. Millions displaced, hunger, horrible stories of rape and sexual abuse, people desperately in search of safety, in search of a future for their children. The people of Sudan deserve our support. #KeepEyesOnSudan

Two years of war in Sudan. 1 in 3 Sudanese displaced. Every day, families flee war, hunger & violence. Hope alone can’t build schools. Solidarity can’t fund clinics. We can't let this become a forgotten crisis. unh.cr/6724ad9f0
