Cherry trees were planted in 2001 at the Ohio Statehouse for a sister-state celebration with Saitama Prefecture Governor Tsuchiya of Japan and Ohio Governor Taft. The trees are on the North side of the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio.

Just a few more hours until the lawn is decorated with flags in remembrance of 9/11. The program begins at 5 p.m. tonight, and the installation is at 5:45. By 7 p.m. the public will be able to see the final memorial. More information found here: ohiostatehouse.org/calendar/event…

In honor of those killed on Sept. 11, 2001, the flags are flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds from sunrise to sunset on Sept. 11, 2024. The Governor asks for a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. to honor the innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks.
