Thanks to all for battling the elements to get together today for some professional learning. It was fantastic to be with you, as always!

The energy was positive and strong as teachers reflected on a year of *knowledge-building PD* (not make & take activities), critically reflected on how their learning re: research evidence squares w their practice, & made plans to change their ass’t & instruction accordingly! 🌻

Pretty impressive day in Oswego County today. Nine districts of teachers, TAs and admins all eager to learn more about the evidence on reading and writing instruction. Thank you Oswego County Literacy Initiative !!

1/n Being at #rEdPhil2019 filled my bucket in so many ways. But @MsJasmineMN & @MrGmpls represent a critically important piece of the growing evidence-aligned instructional movement. Our new tchrs who enthusiastically follow the evidence need to be able to speak up, lead, and

2/n model lifelong prof learning among their seasoned colleagues & admins without fear of retaliation or being silenced. This is 1 way we will disrupt the status quo & change the culture of practice in schools to reflect what the research is teaching us abt what works for kids.

3/3 Keep your eyes on these 2. If you are seasoned, encourage them. If you are new, be inspired by them. The days of keeping your head down & assimilating to instructional norms that conflict w the evidence in order to not rock the boat need to be over. Our kids deserve better.
