CT: Patient engagement in #AMR & #healthcare in general has to become a gold standard expectation. The perception of healthcare workers and hierarchies need to be broken if optimal patient outcomes are truly sought. Less ego – more communication – better outcomes #theAMRnarrative

T4: Beyond the individual advantages, patient engagement in AMR can change community culture and set new social norms. It can also lead to further involvement in civil society and local/national/international participation in pushing policy discussions. #theAMRnarrative

T3: Barriers to patient engagement in AMR includes lack of understanding of AMR, time restraints for healthcare professionals or lack of acknowledgment of importance of patient engagement & variation in perception of roles in care #theAMRnarrative

Very good point. Lack of patient engagement in plan of care leads to lack of agency and patient investment into the plan, and therefore non-compliance could be more likely. Siyabonga Buthelezi #theAMRnarrative

T2: Patient engagement in #AMR could improve perception of infection control & relevant actions, behavior around the antimicrobial use process, vaccine uptake, nudge healthcare workers, and help healthcare workers prioritize interventions. #theAMRnarrative

T1: Patients can be considered engaged if they are at the center of care rather than just the receiving end. Also, when they understand their disease and treatment, and make informed decisions, and participate in crafting research and policy agendas. #theAMRnarrative
