🚨Essential reading for policymakers🚨

“A full AMOC collapse would be a massive, planetary-scale disaster. We really want to prevent this from happening.”

The ocean current keeps UK from being as cold as northern Canada. Its collapse would mean mass starvation.

Creative Industries make up 6% of our economy: more than car and oil industries together. They employ 2.3million people. To cut funding is fudge-brained, cack-hearted thinking pitched very much at the highest level of economic self-harm. theguardian.com/education/2024…

NEW: Whilst Shell is rolling in profits, we're paying to clean up after them.

The oil giant, which made over £22bn profit last year, has been urged to remove waste from decommissioned rigs. But thanks to generous tax breaks, UK taxpayers will cover much of the clean-up costs.

UK subsidies for in 2022 were £13.4 billion. To an industry making obscene profits whilst some can’t afford enough heat and children go hungry.
And despite overwhelming evidence that renewables can provide for all our energy needs.

George Monbiot 21/ 'The IPCC was created to impose (liberal) discipline on the scientific debate (Liverman, 2009).'

This is why initiatives like Climate Uncensored are so critical, and why work by folk like Nick Breeze (Bluesky: @nickbreeze.genn.cc ) is so worth following.

Further evidence today that the Australian government has no intention of phasing out fossil fuels for as long as they are profitable.

In the meantime, the is experiencing its highest levels of heat stress on record.
