Seemed like a perfect day for “Cooking Terms” HandBandz!

Today, we learn to wash dishes. So first thing we have to do is Dirty dishes.

Cream. Whip. Fold in. Mix. I can’t think of a better way to practice these mixing methods than by making Muffins! Today, my FACS students ATE and left NO CRUMBS.

Did you know that with just 1 c Heavy Whipping Cream, 1 tbsp of sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla, you can have perfect whipped cream in 3 minutes?!?! Our FACS kids do! And they enjoyed playing with it too.

Serious RESEARCH in progress. Students were asked to research toys and games to judge their appropriateness for different ages and stages based on developmental milestones. It’s Playtime!

6th grade Nutrition and Wellness has been discussing the impacts of food choices on wellness. We have covered everything from the 5 Food Groups and MyPlate to the 6 essential nutrients.

Heads up! Germs 🦠 are everywhere. Exploring Childcare participated in a visual simulation of how easy germs spread and how important good handwashing practices are. #glogerm

February FCCLA meeting! Today we are decorating 🩷cookies for Valentine’s Day.

6th grade students got a grocery list and requests from their “family” and had to “shop” for the best choices by reading food labels and comparing food choices based on individual health needs. ❤️ If only I could share the thoughtful conversations they had while shopping!

All happy mugs in class today! 6th grade nutrition and wellness students had real life practice using proper measuring tool and techniques for specific ingredients while cooking mug cakes! Yum!
