For The New Republic, Claire Potter and I wrote about the history of the LGBTQ movement for normalcy - and the political limits of that fight. newrepublic.com/article/194339…

What a completely different era this is for Christianity and politics in America. Even in the overtly anti-Catholic periods of US history, it's impossible to picture a US president doing something akin to this.

Andry Romero, a young gay man, was given an asylum appointment by the U.S. Government. When he showed up to the appointment we kidnapped him and sent him to a foreign prison. I asked Secretary Noem to check if he’s alive. Her response was shameful.

If I read another ridiculous piece about Biden’s age when we are on the brink of a catastrophic constitutional crisis with an illegitimate President and authoritarian regime that wants to do away with the 14th amendment and all its protections, I will die.

Here's the president of the U.S. telling a private company how it must make its products, on pain of seeing a massive, government-imposed increase in its input costs. I very rarely use the word "fascist," but this is unconstitutional, fascist nonsense.

We barely even blink at this nowadays, but it's just tyranny. It's one man imposing a massive tax on American businesses and consumers with no legal justification for the action and no underlying constitutional authority. Complete travesty.

Federal funding of schools like Harvard does not fund the education of the rich. Almost all of it goes to scientific and medical research. If you think it makes economic sense to eliminate that funding, then make that argument. Stop pretending this is about cutting off wealthy

St. Cloud said it simply wanted to avoid "controversy" when it decided to stop issuing proclamations when a request to recognize Pride Month was pending. Interestingly, the city felt no similar concerns when repeatedly honoring "Confederate Memorial Day." orlandosentinel.com/2025/06/04/st-…

The politics at Florida's universities is really all about the grift. Washed-up politicians crave high-paying jobs running the schools. So they scream about "diversity" to distract from their lack of qualifications - and then gorge at the public trough. orlandosentinel.com/2025/06/06/flo…

1. In an extraordinary public flogging, the Florida State Board of Education repeatedly threatened a school superintendent with criminal prosecution unless he removed a Judy Blume book from all library shelves. One member called the district librarians "child abusers."

Happy to have my thoughts included in this terrific The New York Times piece on Trump and gay Republicans: “They see Trump as a president who has given them unprecedented access,” Mr. Young said…. “They take that as proof that he’s not going to turn on them.” nytimes.com/2025/06/21/sty…

It's just funny that the same people who lost their everlasting shit over Biden's student loan program are like cool, cool presidents can just bomb stuff with no congressional authorization.
