Years ago Martin Rasmussen was on a Fulbright studying meningeal afferents in my lab & noticed dyes placed in CSF accumulate in trigeminal ganglia. This observation nucleated his PhD project in NedergaardLab & has now led to a new model of migraine pain. science.org/doi/10.1126/scβ¦

For millennia, migraine's origin puzzled scientists. We contributed to the Science Magazine paper showing how cortical spreading depression alters 11% of CSF proteome, including 2-fold increase in CGRP. The proteomic shift may explain aura-headache link. Nicolai J. Wewer Albrechtsen NedergaardLab

ποΈ Summer vacations are perfect for catching up on sleep! π€ Discover why sleep is crucial for our brains through Maiken Nedergaard's pioneering work on the glymphatic system. Watch her fascinating #HFSPNakasone lecture: youtu.be/f7IcZag6loY #SleepScience NedergaardLab

How can understanding brain waste flow inform brain health? Prof Douglas Kelley, PhD, of Mechanical Engineering University of Rochester Hajim, aims to understand the glymphatic system so conditions like #Alzheimer's and #Parkinson's can be studied more effectively. #URochesterResearch In a Neuro

12 Months of #Neuroscience March 2024 We can now see oxygen in the brain! It is already providing insight into why a sedentary lifestyle risk for diseases like #Alzheimers this #URochesterResearch method via NedergaardLab made the discovery using a protein similar to what gives
