Dr. V. H. Lewis (1912–2000) was the seventeenth General Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene. He was elected at the fifteenth General Assembly in Kansas City, Missouri, USA in 1960. He served as a general superintendent until his retirement in 1985.

Honored to host Joel Cabrita, Professor of History at Stanford University, for a research visit at Nazarene Archives. Dr. Cabrita is a historian of modern Southern Africa who focuses on Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) and Southern Africa. It was a privilege to have her utilize our resources!

Miss Lillian Cole Short enrolled as a student at Eastern Nazarene in the fall of 1910. After graduating, she was the first missionary to be sent directly to Africa by the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Eswatini from 1916 to 1926. #NazareneArchives #NazareneHistory

Horace Greeley Trumbauer was the presiding elder of the Pennsylvania Conference of the Holiness Christian Church when it united with the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene in 1908. He was one of two key figures in this lesser-known merger in early Nazarene history.

Our office received a request today from a district superintendent about a church with an upcoming pastoral review. They wanted to know more about the history of the church. We sent them what we knew from our records. Just one of the things we do.
