Sam the Animal symbolicum I think instructors not saying what their views are can contribute to a, 'Well, who knows what to think about this?? If the teacher can't tell or have a responsible view on the matter, am I likely to be able to do that?'
So I think non-disclosure can lead to bad skepticism.

Some non-academic jobs involve people doing awful things; so do some academic jobs.
Some academic jobs are ethically positive; same with some non-academic jobs.

Ok, but almost any 'appeal' can be abused.
So that's not a good reason to think this doesn't happen.
