We loved seeing Colin’s story of being an evacuee, his friend Tom and the little red car on The Repair Shop today. Colin was a member of our education team for many years (recently retired as he’s just turned 90!) Wonderful stuff!! bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…
I’m playing in a gorgeous church in Nailsea tonight - a few miles outside Bristol. There are tickets left if you fancy it - looks like a stunning venue. See you there @nailseapeeps Nailsea Tithe Barn ticketsource.co.uk/nailsea-folk-c…
We’re leaving the coast & heading inland to discover some different heritage walks & trails, starting with ‘Delving into Nailsea’s industrial heritage’. The walk was created by Nailsea & District Heritage Society and was shared by North Somerset Council. maps.bristol.gov.uk/kyp/?edition=n… 1/
Opposite the church you’ll find Nailsea Tithe Barn, which is Grade II* listed and was built in the late 15th or early 16th century. It was altered In 1791-92 when it was converted into a school by Hannah More. maps.bristol.gov.uk/kyp/?edition=n… 3/
Nailsea Tithe Barn Further along this trail on Union Street, you’ll come to the former Ebenezer Primitive Methodist Chapel, built in 1856. It's home to Nailsea Theatre Club (Nailsea Little Theatre), who use it for rehearsals, scenery building, social events & productions. maps.bristol.gov.uk/kyp/?edition=n… 4/
Nailsea Tithe Barn 5/ The walk takes in many more historic buildings from this part of Nailsea and talks about the town's early industrial heritage including coal mining and tanneries (which supplied leather to a boot, clog and shoe industry from the 17th to 19th centuries).
It's official ... to accompany our Christmas tour, Jackie Oates and I are launching a brand new studio album 'A Midwinter's Night' - an acoustic take on the darkest season of the year featuring lesser-known folk carols and tunes from England and beyond. jackieoatesandjohnspiers.bandcamp.com
